Paintball, Air Soft

Intro to Airsoft --  Airsoft is a military/law enforcement sport simulation, where players participate in a mock style combat with military like weapons and tactics. Firearms are 1:1 scale models of real firearms. A typical example of an airsoft firearm is: firing 6mm or 8mm spherical, solid plastic BBs of usually .12, .20, or .25 grams, with propulsion for the projectile provided by manually compressed springs, compressed gas, or electric motors.

5 Minute Guide to Paintball for Beginners --  Paintball is a high energy sport that attracts over ten million players per year. The use of paintballs first started in the 1950's when the forest service used them to mark trees. They were also used as a temporary alternative to branding cows. It wasn't until the mid 70's that two friends, who were trying to recreate the rush of hunting buffalo, came up with the idea of using paintballs to simulate a game of survival. They invented the rules and in 1980, a writer for Sports Illustrated played their game and wrote about the sport in the magazine. It was the start of a phenomenon that has increased in popularity year after year.

Paintball 101: What you need to know! --  Paintball is a game played up of many players or teams. It can be played indoors or out, with as few as two people or as many as 500. Paintball is played at designated fields, back yards or even in the woods. A game can last as little as 5 minutes or hours with all depending on one to take something, find something, or to just be the last person not marked.

Air Soft Guns: Everything You Need to Know --  The sport of air soft has been all the rage the last few years, and its growth shows no signs of slowing any time soon. But don't let the name of the sport fool you. An air soft gun shoots BBs at speeds that can easily cause serious injury. If you're looking to learn about air soft, or you're an experienced player looking for a review, this article covers the basics of the equipment and safety protocol.

Low Pressure vs. High Pressure Paintball Tanks -- Should I get a high pressure or low pressure N2 or HPA tank for my paintball gun? That's a good question. Let's get a few things straight first. The terms "nitrogen tank" and "high pressure air” (HPA) tank mean the same thing. Fields and stores use compressed air to fill the tanks because air is more easily accessible. In the past, nitrogen was more readily available to fields than more expensive compressors. Today if you walk into a store and ask for a nitro tank or a nitro fill they will know what you mean.

Paintball Trends: Carbon Dioxide is History - Switch to Compressed Air --  Since 1981, paintball players have been shooting each other with marble-sized pellets of paint using a special gun called a marker. Players launch their paint pellets by pressing a trigger that releases compressed air or gas to propel the paintball out of the marker towards the target. New paintball players unfamiliar with their equipment have always had questions about whether compressed air offers an advantage over carbon dioxide (CO2). Is compressed air really better than carbon dioxide? To put it simply, YES!

Giving Encouragement on the Paintball Field --  My 12 year old son and 2 of his friends competed as a team in one of their first paintball tournaments this weekend. They were considerably younger and inexperienced than any of the other teams. However, several people participating in the tournament did some amazing things to encourage this young team.
